Preselection

And this year it's double the fun for them, as they have over 18,6k applicants to go through... But yeah, I'm also waiting for the results already!

They were supposed to be out after today, so it might as well be Friday...

It is so frustrating waiting for a trainee where over 15.000 guys are competing for 650 free slots...

By the way, I just love the e-mails telling me that there's a new reply in this topic. I open my inbox to see a mail commencing '(...)Notification - Preselection - Traineeships in Brussels' and for a moment there my heartrate goes through the roof

Obviously that interview is not with someone from EC so waiting for that terrifying email

Actually I think they are going to select around 3200 guys, and from them they pick out the lucky ones.
My question is: how they select the lucky ones from the 3200 blue book possible interns?

Generally they make the so-called "blue book". As you well know it is something like a roster of about 3200 guys. From this "first selection" book they pick out the future interns(around 600-650).
So, even if we will receive an email stating that we are in the bluee book it is not automatic that are going to be an intern.
This is my 3' shot, and last time I was in the blue book but nobody called me.

The procedure is clear...I just thought they select only 2500 for the blue book.....Good luck to you!

I thought they chose about 2,5k people, not 3,2k. Do you think the number will go up because of so many applications? Or am I wrong?

In some cases, yes. But I think it depends on whether a DG is directly interested in you. If they like what they see, they might call you for an interview, even straightaway.

I guess they will select more than 2,5k due to the high number of applicants.

And as for the phone call, michuss is right. It really depends on the DG interests on you. I repeat my experience: last time I was in the blue book and nobody called, maybes this time I will neither be in the blue book due to the straordinary number of applications.

guys, I was reading on the "translation section", that someone has not taken the phone call from the advisor.
I would like to know If someone can't take an eventual phone call from a DG, do you think that they send an email or they directly skip to another winner?

I'm quite sure that If I will be pre-selected, they will phone me during my exam on monday...ahahahah...Im sure about it.

You're an optimist, assuming they call at all

It's hard to tell but they might not call again, so make sure you have your phone always loaded IF you get through the pre-selection And don't worry about the exam, they won't call you then

ahahaha...im not optimistic at all as you can easily imagine.

I hope tomorrow we are going to receive the email, it's really hard preparing an exam on this mental condition.

no news anyone? does anybody know if there is any chance that they send the email and call straight away? im scared coz i have an interview tomorrow and dont want to miss the chance, assuming i get lucky

No news down here. I don't know if they'll call straight away, it's up to units. But anyway I think we can never be 100% sure to secure a traineeship before the official confirmation (end of june I guess). I heard that some units that had confirmed places to candidates couldn't offer any traineeship in the end.

Yes but not that much apparently... The stage website says

Every single application is assessed on the basis of academic profile, language skills and additional qualities. A ranking is then established and the 2,600 candidates with the highest scores are shortlisted.

No nothing...I think they send out the emails tomorrow It starts to be annoying....

Last time they only sent out e-mails in the afternoon. And I doubt they'd send them tomorrow, as usually they start selecting people and calling people the same day or the day after. In case they send out e-mails tomorrow, you'd have the weekend first..

I have applied for the internship for the first time and don't know in detail about selection procedure. If somebody can help me? On this step we should recive only e-mail or phone call too? Is there some kind of the interview or something different?

As I have found out at this stage of the preselection procedure we are waiting only for an e-mail.

The first step is that you will receive an e-mail stating whether you made it through preselection or not. In case you do, you can consider whether you want to lobby. This means that you send out e-mails to the units you are interested in. You might get a call at anytime after you have been preselected. They can also send an e-mail to make an appointment for an interview. Basically, you have to be prepared at all times to answer your phone and have an interview!
