October 2019 Traineeship

Anyone knows if it's only common practise to send emails to the DG's we have selected or can we send to other Units we now find also interesting? thanks in advance.

EMPL, EAC, HOME, HR. But probably will send some more.

I have sent my first email... so scared! I sent it to the person listed in a specific area I was interested in on the DG's organization chart. I got an automatic reply saying she will be out of office until June 3. Do I just continue to do this with any of the sub-areas of the DG I'm interested in? I would be sending probably 40 emails between the areas of interest in the three DGs I listed... that seems like a lot?

Hehe, just found one spam letter. The unit just thanked me for wishing to work with them and asked to be assured that they would duly consider my application.

And one more question, pls Do you attach CV only in English, or in French, German (or other languages) as well? Do you attach any recommendation letters?

Attached only CV and only in English (I could translate it into German or Russian but I think there is no need).

Whom do you guys write actually if I may know because that confueses me? To the HR unit via that email provided or more directly to the heads of the units and stuff?
I have sent the e-mails so far only to the HR units but I am not sure if I should contact someone else too

I am not worried. All of them are related to my academic and professional interests and background.

I guess I have a similar impression. I wrote to 4 units, which are closely related to one another. Each time however, I specified why this Unit suits my profile (different reasons for each Unit) and mentioned their projects or some tasks in which I would like to participate.
I am also worried, that when it all comes to the final decision of the Heads of Departments - the Heads of Units will forward the emails and if then it turns out that it's basically ctrl+c, ctrl+v - my chances may drop just like that

I am not sure how much worth is to write ot the Heads of Department since it seems to me that they are not involved that much in the selection process and are usually super busy and do not really read all the e-mails. I kind of doubt that if i texted to, for example, Jean Claude Juncker, he would really read that.

But I might be wrong though...

I emailed about 10 unit heads & deputy heads in the first 3 days. Got a few automatic out of office replies but nothing else. I got in the blue book once before then didn't get an offer, but I seem to remember people getting offers straight away, so I'm surprised that it's so slow this time...

Maybe it is because of the elections? Today I emailed a few DG and got one "real" reply (Just thanking) , an automatic one and another one which says that the selection process is still going on.

Do you guys think its appropriate to e-mail directly to the director general of the service?
