I did e-mail to the HR unit (from the list we got) plus to the head of HR unit. I guess that would be enough...

Hi everyone, I got a response from a HoU at my first choice thanking me for my email but that they don't know yet if they will have a trainee this term . Of course I assumed that everyone is looking for trainees....

Is anyone familiar with the process of how/when units know if they will have trainees and what it depends on?

I'm quite sure that this is the unit I'm most suitable for.

Hey thanks for the info. Is this for sure?

I was just called by one of the DGs for which I lobbied. They told me that my CV looks interesting and asked me if I would like to be their 1st preference --> Therefore, DO LOBBY and DON'T THINK TWICE !!!
Apparently they are now in the process of screening the profiles and selecting their preferences.

Little more to wait...

May I ask which DG?

It was DEVCO and the exact same division for which I lobbied. That's why I was saying that lobbying really helps, at least in this case.

Can I ask how detailed your lobbying emails were? I feel mine are simplistic... I just introduce myself, give some details on my education, state that through my LLM I became interested in their field, and then give my information for contact. Should I be targeting them more specifically? Also, does anyone know the email pattern for when a Head of Unit has multiple last names? Thank you!

I have another bad news:

EEAS Units Global.4, Intcen.2 and Situation Room  will not hold trainees neither My beloved SitRoom....

I will finish sending my emails quickly then! I've applied to DG COMP, DG Legal Services, and DG TRADE. It seems everyone at DG COMP is out of office until June 3.

Hello as I understood it should be written "-" between two last names. If not working just write all together with @ec.europa.eu and google it. You'll surely find it.

Mine were as well simplistic and quite classic. I started explaining my interest in their unit, mentioned some of my relevant work experience and highlight some of my academic background. Plus attached the CV.  I think that is also important to contact units that best fit your profile so that you can catch their attention easier.

Did someone get any e-mail from DG HOME, DG ECHO, SG or DG DEVCO?

It's my second time applying for the EU Commission traineeship. The first time (March 2019 period) I didn't lobby at all, as I thought that it's not really important. But I've learned my lesson as I didn't receive any e-mails or calls. So I guess it's always better to send than not.
So this time I sent 7 e-mails, but still didn't get anything. Anway, fingers crossed!

From HOME, SG and DEVCO I got no answer too.

Nope, I lobbied the Iraq + Arabian Peninsula unit and they said they wouldn't be having a trainee next session indeed.

European Defence Agency (EDA) told me that they are not participating in blue book traineeship programme anymore...

No idea. I guess they are not updating that list regularly.
But for sure, EEAS and SG are participating, although they still havent contacted anyone..

(sad) update: DG Connect: Copyright Unit will not take trainees this term

I received a response from one of the Heads of Unit at DG SJ (Legal Services) saying that the selection of stagiaires/trainees is carried out by an internal selection committee and that he will refer my application to them.
