It also applies to the other direction, even if you get contacted by 5 units, you might not be selected in the end. So, nothing is set yet Smile

I just received my very first email from SCIC.01 Secretariat: Inter-institutional Relations, International Cooperation & Strategy Unit. So don't give up hope yet! Anyone else received an offer from them? Smile

Did you get an email from the unit directly or a proper offer from the Traineeship Office?

I guess? I have been trying to find accurate dates online, but everything says June/July. So I guess it'll be end of this month before we hear something? So tired of this waiting malark!

I think they send all the offers in bulks, at least to those who are the first choice for some unit. Everyone has told me to wait until the end of the month.

Does anyone know what happens if you got put as the 1st preference within 3 different units but within the same DG ? Does HR just randomly assigns you or do they contact you ?

A mate of mine told me that the traineeship office lets us decide which unit we want. Apparently.

I heard from the unit who interviewed me (second choice) and who was concerned that my first choice would book and 'block' me, that sometimes the TO will assign according to your choices and not ask you first. So be careful! I guess make it as clear as you can to the TO.

If all units are within the same DG they are supposed to ask you, but as they are very busy I wouldn't count on it if I were you Very Happy

Maybe you can email HR for the DG in question, they were helpful to me with a similar question Smile

So I got an e-mail from my first preference today saying that I’ll receive a traineeship offer in 2 weeks time

It seems like we won’t have to wait for long before the first batch of offers are sent out

Hello to all!

I have been following the conversations on the selection procedure and I must say that it's either too complicated or everybody is misinformed. A lady from the agency of my first choice just told me on the phone (oh yes they still conduct interviews!) that if she shortlists me I will be automatically removed from the lists of the other DGs that have already shortlisted me. Therefore I am not sure we are that free to choose where we want to go, especially if we change our minds. If it's more units within the same DG then probably the TO considers our choices, but if it's between our first and second choices I believe the decision is automatic.

Does anyone have a better idea on that? I actually want to go to my second choice but I'm afraid of taking the risk to reject my first one since they want me pale

So what you are saying is that being a preferred candidate for the 2nd DG of your choice is automatically rejected if the 1st DG puts you as 4th on their shortlist (which means that there are three other candidates before you, which will have to get and reject the offer before you got a chance). This way, in the end, you will not receive an offer at all, despite being a preferred candidate of a unit in the 2nd DG.. This can't be.. :O

I somehow don't believe that being 2nd or 3rd on the list will remove you from other lists. I was shortlisted 2nd by two units in my preferred DG, but my second-choice DG promised to put me first nevertheless. I should think this being removed from the list would apply only if you are the preferred candidate, which to my knowledge already was the case.

I also hope that it is not like that. Maybe it applies only in the case you are shortlisted as 1st. But how one is supposed to know at what position he is shortlisted for every Unit? And how many are shortlisted anyway? Three or more selected candidates?
