I just received an email that I am the first preference for the G2 unit. Can anyone please inform me if I can start drinking or is it still possible that I do not get an internship at the end?

Ovca,I am in the same situation: a unit in HR told I am their number 1 candidate,but I can't celebrate yet because the traineeship office must approve it,so we have to wait until an official offer from the traineeship,or from the DG itself(some dgs sent a mail before the traineeship office).but this usually means you got the traineeship,so congrats (unless maybe there is another dg fighting for you,but this is also good)...so now,be nice and just wait for the mail :p

in my case it is Secretariat-general, relations with other institutions.

I just hope we get notified before the mid-july period, it would be hard to wait until then...

Congrats! I am very jealous, but I'd say you can already celebrate 'somewhat'

...and just another information for all of you still waiting:

even though I lobbyed big time (mostly units not connected directly with my preferences from the application), I was contacted by a unit which I did not lobby and now received an offer from another which I did not lobby as well.

So, lobbying sometimes helps and sometimes has nothing to do with selection I guess.

Nothing from HOME for me, or any other DG I lobbied..so can we assume we have been rejected if no phone call by today ?

....i think so, .....but i did not see anybody talking about HOME....it´s kid o weird ...don´t you think?

Oh, it's a bit depressing to not even get one phone call or acknowledgement after 5 months of waiting..yes, I've been looking back at all the old posts but couldn't see anything about HOME, so seems a bit strange..but then maybe if you get offered a place you wouldn't really be using this forum? Who knows..I really wanted to work in immigration, asylum and Borders..How about you?

I really don't think you should assume that you are rejected!! As previously said in the forum, no phone calls does not necessarily mean that one is rejected..the same way that phone calls do not mean 100% that someone will eventually be rejected (although the probabilities are of course higher). The thing is that some DGs do not make phone calls or informal interviews, as opposed to others which do. In that case, they just make their selection based solely on the Cvs in the blue book. So, no phone call means absolutely nothing:)

Ok thanks ^^ youre right,I guess it's impossible trying to second guess the selection procedure of each DG..

@katko: I wanted as well to work in asylum, integration and migration units....this process was a bit depressing....may be we could call them to check if they were calling possible selected? what do you think???

I just got an email from the secretariat general - G2 Unit that they reserved me in the blue book. They also said that the definite, official offer will be sent by the traineeship office. I guess I can't really relax before getting the official offer.....

When I was reading through all messages here I saw a lot of comments that you have been contacted with "unofficial, informal offer, you are our No. 1, reservation in BB" etc. Of course only some of you, but still plenty of you...as is my personal view through the Forum. I was also contacted by some units and I got only one final email "we havent been able to retain your appl." (I have already written this here, sorry for that again) and other unit, especially one which also called me, are still silent (in that case they selcted me). OR are they just working in accordance with with code of TO - final offer will be send on email before mid-July? So there is no place for certain unofficial offers etc. from particular units, dg.

So Im still thinking about different policies between particular DGs in accordance with this. Any idea?

I guess it is a good will of a particular unit, so that you stay informed. I sent an email today to the person contacting me last week to ask if I am still interested for the traineeship. I got an instant reply that I was reserved in the blue book. This is my case.

They did not take any stage in HOME:

Dear Mr Sir/Madam,

We hereby acknowledge the receipt of your application for an administrative traineeship with the European Commission and thank you for the interest shown.

We hereby inform you the preselection procedure is closed and that both Directorate-General Home Affairs and Directorate-General Justice have chosen the candidates for the October traineeship. Unfortunately, Asylum Unit of DG Home Affairs has not received a vacancy for a stage for the above period.

The Traineeships Office of the European Commission will announce the results to all candidates by mid-June (see also the calendar on the website of the Traineeships Office).

I think it's a typo, because if you follow the link it says mid-July. I wish it wasn't a typo though..

Yes, I knew - from the link- that it was mid July, but then again we received the preselection results almost one month earlier than scheduled so it would be nice if we received the selection outcome also a bit earlier!! in any case, we will soon know!

Yeah, exactly we got preselection results three weeks before mid-June and now (mid-June) is exactly three weeks before original scheduled date (before mid-July), so...:-D

Has anyone btw been informed - in any of his/her communications with the DGs or TO - of when we will be notified of the selection results / a different date from the general "mid-July" deadline as shown in the TO schedule?

the person who selected me from the DG said I will get the letter by the end of June.

Hey guys! I have a question for those unofficially/officially selected:

What do you think were your strong points of the application?
- languages (how many languages and which ones?)
- education (bachelor/master?)
- job experience?
- motivation?
- etc.?


Of course, if that's no secret. I believe it would be helpful not just for me but for all future applicants.
