Thank you for your message. Can you confirm that the rejection letter was indeed from the Parliament and not the (Traineeship Office of the) Commission (who happened to send their rejection letters today)?
Did they mention placing you on a reserve list or not?
You might give me some hope that being on a reserve list and being asked to send documents could actually involve a slight chance of being selected in the end...

Hey I just received a rejection email from the Parliament (I also just received a letter confirming my pre-selection to the Commission so fingers crossed)! they did not mention placing me on the reserve list. I think it's just a straight up rejection from the parliament! oh well!

@anon_user, I got rejected by both of them. No real details besides that I did not pass the pre-selection phase. Good luck though!

I got rejected too today, but they said it clearly that they are closing my file. So for me no reserve list.
But at least they confirm my application quality. Last time applying they didn`t mention anything about it

I was shortlisted for a traineeship at the General Secretariat of the European Parliament, Directorate-General for Finance, Member's Travel and Subsistence Expenses Unit in Luxembourg.

They sent me the e-mail on November 24. I sent the documents a couple days later, now I'm waiting for an answer...

Just to be sure..we (shortlisted for Parliament) do not have to lobby, right!? I think there is no need for that, because we are already shortlisted for specific Unit, which is not the case with the EC trainees...so in their case, it makes sense

Correct (from what I heard)

I just received the message that my file is now complete and that they will send the admission letter by email by the end of December!

Same dilema I wonder if that is just confirmation of received document..or.., because in the last e-amail (where we were asked to send documents) thay said: "The present letter does not constitute an offer of a traineeship. The offer ]will be sent to you by email once my service has checked all of the above-mentioned documents received by the indicated deadline."

Mail you/we received today is not offical offer.

Well, to my mind the message is clear enough: "The admission letter together with all the necessary information will be sent to you by e-mail by the end of December." WILL ---> you are going to get the admission letter.

@ M.M No this is not the official offer, but if you read the FAQ and the email it is pretty clear that they will send us the letter/offer this month for sure and that we have to be patient

I'm from the UK and have an offer for a traineeship in the DG for internal policies, beginning in March. I was wondering what people are planning in terms of accommodation - I know nothing about flat-sharing/renting in Brussels, so would be eager if anyone has links/general advice etc. How straightforward is renting for the five month period? How much rent is the norm for deposits etc.

In the email there was a link to a general booking site, and a more particular link to a foyer called 'European Trainees Residence' (www.etr-brussels.be). Does anyone have any experience of this?

But I started already looking for accomodation as I know that there will be lots of interns starting in march and competition for the accomodation will also be though.

I checked a bit the flats, but most of the offers are for January, haven't found anything for March...
And honestly I can not imagine to send somebody money without signing the contract, how does it work in this case?

I think I'll start looking by January, it is still too early, like almond89 said, most of the offers are for January. I'm not sure how it works but I guess it would be the monthly rent plus deposit -one month o two-.

They've just mailed me to tell me that my application for a translation traineeship was unsuccessful.
