did you receive any response?Ive wrote:Same thing with me guys, but I e-mailed trainee@cor.europa.eu asking when any pre-selection results will be announced or whether it'll be only the pre-selected candidates that would get an e-mail. In case I get a reply back I'll let you know!

ovca,
Can you also give us more info about your profile and what you wrote in the motivation. It will be good for us to know what we did wrong or why we were not selected.
Thank you!
Congrats on your success! Good luck at the internship!

Thanks for the congrats. However, it is far from over yet
I was preselected for the translation service (which I did not apply for) and for the President's office. The preselection mail basically says that you are preselected and that you should provide certificates for all the activities/languages/education/experience declared in the application.
Regarding my profile; I have a master degree and an extensive international study and internship experience. I also speak several foreign languages (covered with certificates). Since I already have experience in applying, I got the impression that what counts is finished studies, and working/internship experience which seems to be really important. I also spent a lot of time meliorating my motivation letter - which obviously counts as well. Declaring things without having certificates to prove them is "dangerous".
Do not lose hope, try to work your motivation letter to perfection, you have a lot literature on the web. Good luck to all, maybe it is not yet over, there were cases of late selections each year.
Hope my answer helped....

I never understood why certain 'traineeships' require extensive work experience. The reason why one would apply to some kind of traineeship experience is cos one doesn't have a lot of work experience (to start off with) and wants to gain some...

the deadline is 20th of May, this Sunday.
Regarding the required experience for an internship, I was also asking my self the same at the begging. The thing is that one should probably start with "low profile" and then movie up on the "internship hierarchy"...

move up the internship ladder. what do you consider 'low profile?'
I have 1.5 yrs of work experience so far in an office environment - which isn't much, but at least it is smthg.

there are many strong candidates. I guess each sector is looking for a particular type of person with a particular type of profile.

maybe the board thinks you should search for a job now (not an internship), since you've been on many internships before. dunno.

regarding your question about age, i personally am 25 yrs old.
many internships=2 short internship. not such an wow thing. i personally have seen people with no master and no language or internship getting a job in COR or EC or EP. Ive also seen people with 4yrs experience getting an internship. Ive also seen people who knew insiders and got the job. So i do not think that the committee thinks what you posted. It is my right to want a traineeship, and since my application was valid, i guess they were in the process of rejecting it or accepting it based on the info i provided. Otherwise, i would be disqualified

My boyfriend got an e-mail yesterday that his application's status changed to "preselected". Unfortunately, I haven't got an answer yet. The worse thing is that they don't tell you that you have been rejected, so I keep hoping that I will get an e-mail.....
I know that the preselection was until 15th of May and my boyfriend got an e-nail that he has to send his acceptance of pre-selection until 20th of May(This Sunday). But I still hope that some unit have still not announced their candidates......only hoping though
I've also applied for a traineeship at the EC, but I think it's a lost cause!

why is it so difficult to change statuses? are you all certain that statuses don't change unless one is preselected?

I got an email on the 16th saying:
Dear Ms Waldron,
We are glad to inform you that you have been pre-selected for a traineeship in the Internal Audit Service of the Committee of the Regions.
Please read carefully the steps to be taken in the attached pre-selection letter in order to continue your application procedure.
Yours sincerely,
Anna Maria Vanhoye

I looked at my motivation and it wasn't great as i was applying for a few things at the time and basically copied pasted a general motivation i use for all applications. Im Irish so my native language is English and i have some French from school. I also did not select the Internal Audit Service so i have no idea why i was picked for that. My status on the website was changed already when i got the email.
Don't know if this is of any help to anyone.

Congrats and thanks for sharing! Do you have any background in Economics and/or Finance? Maybe that is why they thought the internal audit position would suit you.

I have a Masters in European Law and Policy and another Masters in Economic Policy Evaluation and Planning so the second one probably had something to do with it!

don't worry, they are not worth our time (and anything else either) then.

Does anyone know if there is a site with past interns of the CoR talking about their experiences?
