I honestly think that those people who have gotten calls on here so far are seriously over-qualified though. People who speak 8-10 languages and have been working for a few years should not be bothered applying for a 5 month long traineeship...Wasn't this traineeship supposed to be for young, recent graduates? As for me, I cannot compete with that.

Yes, probably this was the idea of this traineeship. But don't forget that Europe is in crisis, so there are a lot of qualified, educated (not so)young people with diversified working experience who prefer to apply for paid internship than to stay unemployed. Actually, I am a perfect example of this: 2 Master degrees, alsmost ready PhD thesis, fieldwork in Russia and Central Asia, 5 years of project manager and researcher experience, bilingual with 2 additional language at working level, number of publications. But unfortunately without stable work And as one HR person told me - I might have more chances to get a job if I don't mention my PhD studies in my CV - because chiefs with bachelor degrees don't want to have employees with PhD

Anyhow, I don't think I have more chances to get this traineeship than you. It's a lottery, pure lottery

thanks for the info, very interesting .but I guess some units do interviews others don't. thinking of aaall these documents and certificats we sent them they already know quite a lot about us, and it's often even proven in paper.

Has anyone heard back from EAC...interview, call, mail...anything?!

Someone posted a while back that they received a standard mail from EAC that lobbying is not necessary if I remember right...

I got an email from a unit at the EEAS that I didn't apply to (Maghreb unit) saying that the head of unit was interested in my application but that their decision deadline is June 10.

loolapaloozas: I got it this morning. I responded saying that I never applied to that unit but am happy to be considered. She responded to me saying that my application was forwarded to them by the unit director.

I have a Bachelor's degree in Political Science, currently pursuing a Master's programme in Comparative Politics-Conflict Studies at London School of Economics and have 15 months of internship experience at the UN in New York, where I worked with security policy related issues. I speak Swedish and English fluently and intermediate French. It's frustrating not knowing whether that is enough so would be good with some info from you:) Thanks in advance!

I have a bachelors in International Relations (Middle East concentration), and a masters in European Politics from Sciences Po Strasbourg (which I just recently finished). I have internship experience at the Transatlantic Business Council, and I did research in Egypt for a year on a US Fulbright Scholarship. I speak English, French, Spanish and Arabic fluently.

So do you! 15 months of experience at the UN! I don't feel my background is that great though...I have been reading the qualifications of some other people on this forum. It is very humbling. I am hoping for the Americas unit at EEAS actually so we will see! I was already told by DG Trade - Americas unit that it would be too delicate for them to have an American intern during the upcoming trade negotiations between the US/EU so I will hope for EEAS now

ab527, you haven't heard anything from the Americas unit, have you? US, Canada or the others? I'm also American and it seems there's more of us than one might think! cheers

according to DG Sanco, I received an email telling me that somebody from the workforce department will call me soon to talk about the tasks of a trainee there.
interview will be held in english.
anyone had sth like this before?

E-mail from EAC...unit E2...similar as general one "On behalf of ... we would like to thank you for the interest that you have shown in our unit. It is not necessary to send your cv to us since all the relevant information..." and with info that "if you are selected by the Directorate-General for Education and Culture, the Traineeships Office will inform you by e-mail and then send you a trainee placement offer as from end of June 2013..." FROM END OF JUNE

I am still waiting for ANY signs of life from DG Just, DG Comp and the infamous Legal Services! No general e-mails, no interviews so far ... nevertheless, congratulations to alex2006 for having been accepted at DG Just!!!
