Hello!!
Who applied for a traineeship for EESC or for COR for October 2013?

Hello!

I did apply for a traineeship for CoR. I was contacted by the early April and I was informed that my application was valid. I don't get my hopes up since it seems to be such a competitive process and my resume is not quite impresive. I applied for the Education, Youth, Culture and Research Comission. Anyone else who applied for this comission? It would helpful to compare our merits in order to be aware of our chances to be shortlisted.

I applied for:

Commission for Territorial Cohesion - COTER
Commission for the Environment, Climate Change and Energy - ENVE
Commission for Natural Resources - NAT

Well I applied for

Commission for Education, Youth, Culture and Research - EDUC
Commission for Economic and Social policy - ECOS
Meetings and Internal Services

The send an e mail that my application was vaild early of April and now I m waiting to see if I passed the preselection.

Did anyone receive the "preselection mail"?

Not yet... It's supposed to be sent in early May.

I knew these ones, but that's for the EC, I thought you know also something about CoR/EESC Wink

So far nothing, anyone received anything already?

I received my email on 3rd of April (30 days - 3rd of May) so I guess I am not preselected

I still have a hope to be preselected... and I am wondering... will you lobby, once you are preselected? to which person? Director of the unit you are interested in? or to deputy director? or to a person on higher position (manager of each Directorate)? no idea...

I wouldn't put so much faith in the "30 days from email" information. I think the date on the website (15th of May) stated as the end of the preselection is much more trustworthy.

As for lobbying, somewhere in this forum it was written that nobody really does that in CoR. But if so, then probably the director of the unit is the most suitable option...

This forum seems to be dead... I assume nobody got any response yet.
They said "30 days", which are gone, then probably I haven't been selected at least for the CoR. But at the same time no-one has posted here anything, so I don't know what to think. Still waiting but a bit hopeless. Too many applicants for few spots. And for the Commission's traineeship there are even fewer chances...

hi!!i suppose the forum is dead because no-one has received any reply either from CoR or EESC.I think the game is over with CoR,but i still have some hopes for EESC.i received the mail on the 11th of april so i suppose i have one or two days left!!

Hi everyone,

I received an email last Monday saying I was pre-selected for EESC traineeship due to start in September. I have two more references to collect before uploading them and other documents for vetting. There seems to be a great divide between those who see lobbying as a definite 'go for it/do it' (or at least as something worth giving a try) and those who advise against it (on the basis of findings presented in reports and responses people get to their emails). I may try a telephone call.

Just because I'm extremely curious, could you please tell me what your background is? As I wrote in other posts, I'm extremely proud of what I have done but it's definitely not enough to get a traineeship in EU... the competition is so stiff that if someone is not fluent in at least 4 languages, besides having a significant international experience (some have even 2 master degrees...) the chances are slightly above zero.
It's easy to feel discouraged... but probably many are smarter and that's a fact.

Congratulations Pasha. I'm also quite interested as to what you're background is and where you're from. I've heard that in the EU institutions they often get an instruction as to which nationalities should be promoted in a certain year...
Also, what documents did they demand?

Thanks guys, although, as world_cup mentioned, it could have been by virtue of my Eastern European background that I was preselected. Academically and professionally, I have a degree in IR, social policy and a post-graduate qualification in research methods (hence my preference for SOC and REX as the first and second choice, respectively) as well as experience of carrying out quantitative and qualitative research and writing for non-academic audience. In terms of paperwork, they wanted to see all qualifications and work experience supported with an official document, stamped and signed. I've killed the excitement lest the application status changes to 'not selected.' To all those who weren't preselected this time, good luck in the future!

what is the deadline to send them all documents?

Someone preselected for EECS yet? I couldn't find any official information about when they will communicate about preselection results...

I applied for COR and EECS but I have not get any reply for pre-selection yet. I'm awaiting still.

someone knows if our status in the website of the CoR/EESC will change if I/we don't receive any email?Because as far as I know they won't send us any mail of rejection, am I right?

@go_there looking back to what happened during previous selections it doesn't seem the status changes if you are not preselected, maybe months after but it appears they send an email saying you were not successful or say nothing..
I think checking your application page won't bring anything.. I have stopped checking mine...lol

I think the chance of being successful will decrease in the end of May/beginning of June if we still don't have any news by then.
I think it depends on each service how fast they process the applications. They were really fast with pasha; but I don't think they all are that fast. That said, it is just a personal feeling.

It would certainly help to know if she was the only one preselected so far or if other candidates were also successful in the first week of May.

I'll try to know more and get back to you..

I got an e-mail today, changing as "pre-selection awaiting documents" for COR.

Yes, from previous years it seems that the preselected candidates get an e-mail, the non preselected get nothing. So if the preselection emails were sent out yesterday, the ones who didn't get any e-mails should most probably forget about it and concentrate on finding another internship.

were sent yesterday? you mean all of them? is it for sure what you are saying? or just a guess?
