Hello everybody! If we haven't been contacted by a DG at this point, does it mean we are out of the race? I thought 1/3 was a fair chance to make it through but I haven't heard of any DG to this point. Thanks!

lol, there is never a good time to be sad. That being said, fyi, I was asking about getting emails from the DG's showing interest in certain candidates (many have mentioned being in contact with DGs), not formal offers. Cheers

Hi everyone! The DG which made me a non-binding other was very clear about the fact I was their first chice and told me that results will come by the end of the month. I haven’t received any! So still one week to go! We have to be patient

Same here, was named as preferred candidate but I haven't heard back from the traineeship office yet. Fingers crossed this will be happening soon.

Hi guys. I see that a lot of people are writing about been contacted by DGs. As far as I know, not all DGs contact potential trainees so wanted to double-check: has anyone been contacted by DG NEAR, EPSC or EEAS? Good luck with the selection Smile

When I got shortlisted, I sent an email to all the DGs I put in my list letting them know that I was still available for the traineeship and would be really interested to have an interview with them. EAAS and EACEA came back to me and said that they would call me soon. Never heard back from EAAS, I did receive a call from EACEA though and was told that I was to be on their nominated list. Eventually when I sent an email to them last week to double-check whether they had booked me, they said they hadn't. I have no idea what happened in the meantime.

Yeah, I received an email with the same exact words too! And no, no further communications regarding contacts with other trainees etc. Also they just said to wait for the official in January, but did not specify a date.
We just have to keep waiting and not freak out, I guess Very Happy

Also, to people who were selected by DG Translation:
Were any of you told that we would get our offers on the 18th? Now I'm afraid not all DGs send their offers on the same date!
The email I got only said "The only official and binding offer to be signed will be sent electronically in your account by the Traineeships' Office (DG EAC) in January 2019." But I think none of us had interviews, did we? So fewer morselfs of informations were revealed to us...
Also, did you guys receive further emails about putting all DGT trainees in contact, or has that not happened yet ? I've not received anything...

I' ve been pre-selected, like the majority of the people that still posting in here; I would like to know if any of you have news from DGs , I am wondering what shall I do now, considering we are at the end of January. I applied for ECHO, DEVCO, EMPL and I am italian btw.

Unfortunately, we're sitting ducks right now - with, I assume, no information from the TO office. I am totally clueless what we should do - be patient and try retain sanity :O !! Hopefully we'll get offers by the end of today because the situation is becoming ridiculous and absurd.

I'm afraid that from now on it's beyond the DGs hands. It's time for the offers to be sent by the TO. The only question is when.

Hi everyone ! First time posting here!

I think we're all in the same situation, however, one agency that I had put as my #1 choice contacted me on Friday the 18th stating that I've been officially chosen as their bluebook trainee for the march period, I also had a written confirmation by the HR service of the agency.

But no news yet from the T.O office but maybe DG's can inform whether or not you're their #1 candidate for the traineeship period?

@defender as far as I know the DGs (contacted or not) have submitted the preferred candidates they wish to work with. Million dollar question when the officiality will be sent out to the selected individuals. Yeah... it's becoming annoying now.

First time posting here as well.

@Alexis14 congrats with the offer! May I ask which agency was it? I was shortlisted by the Research Executive Agency in December. Sent them an email later on asking if I have been selected and got the reply that the HR will send official offers to those selected latest by the end of January. Haven't heard anything, so I'm starting to lose hope.

Well, browsing previous years (2015, 2016, 2017) I realised that the TO starts sending out offers ordinarily the week starting 20 January. For instance, people in 2015 reported they started receiving offers on 20 Jan, people from the 2016 March session reported they started receiving offers on 22 Jan and people from the 2017 March session reported they started receiving offers on 26Jan. I know that so far all our prognostics have failed, but this must be a good indicator that things will start happening any moment now, right?

I contacted my future Unit (fingers crossed) and they told me they received no precise date from the TO. Still two weeks for it! It’s Monday for everyone... It’s more likely we’re gonna hear from them as from tomorrow onwards

Why such chaos. I suspect that TO may send the offers on 28th of February because...they can do it and it's "perfectly normal" to receive them so late. I know that's not a job offer but still...

No reply from the TO except a generic email saying not to take the conversations with units as binding until the official offer comes latest “at the end of January”. Do they expect people to live under a bridge or how do they think we can arrange accommodation and work resignations within a month of starting? Honestly thinking of not accepting it even if they offer...

Ameliee, I totally understand your point of view, it is absurd. No one can just wait around and plan things last minute. It is relatively ill timed. I have been offered a lecturing position at my Uni and a research position, it makes this decision even worse. Maybe we'll have a reply today...who knows.

As some of my friends living in Brussels told me, it's still quite early to look for a place to stay from March on. The Facebook groups now are full of places available from February 1st. So don't worry, you will be fine!

Absolutely the same situation. I'm more concerned about sorting things out on time with my employment more than finding a place in Brussels Sad

BTW, I also received a job offer (which will give me a real chance to go in the Commission with much bigger remuneration) and I'm really wondering whether I'll be taking any traineeship at all (although it seems like a nice opportunity to find out whether it will really fit my needs).....
