Even though the forum seems to be dying out a bit, this is still the only place on Internet to share the madness of going through the EC internship process and calm ourselves down by getting some updates, advice and some support from others

So, let's share here the March 2019 traineeship updates!

Hi!

I've been pre-selected and uploaded all supporting document. I haven't lobbed yet and I'm not sure if it is necessary, I have never heard of lobbing until I signed up on this forum!
should I start lobbing now too? Any advice would be appreciated.

I've been preselected as well! I haven't started lobbying yet, but as I saw at the other topics of the this forum, is a quite common strategy. However, I think we still should wait until we get confirmed that the documents we uploaded are valid and we are included into the Blue Book isn't it?

Yes, that's going to be my strategy at least. I don't think it's possible to lobby before you are included into the Blue Book, as it is also possible not to be included there after all. So, all is left now is to wait and hope for the best! I really hope we won't have to wait more than 2 weeks.

I have also been preselected. I've just learnt about the lobbying thing. I would say it makes more sense in the case of amministrative traineeships, but I am not sure either. I have no idea how the whole process works.

Reading old threads I've noticed that people got preselected on a later date, starting with the 7th or 8th of November. Are they just going faster this year or is there people who get preselected earlier and other later? What do you think?

I'm guessing that this year they are just going forward earlier with the process, which is a good thing (less waiting time hopefully). In any way, it can't be that some people are notified earlier and others later, since that would unfair towards the candidates notified later (as I understood, some units choose the candidates really quickly just as soon as the Blue Book list gets released).

Do you think we will know the result of the selection by 31 Dec? It seems this year they work on selection earlier than before.

Also is there any non-EU citizen?

yes I believe so. On the portal it says the results will be out mid -end November! Not too far away!

I don't know...but I think they are more interested in what you have done apart from your university education. I.e: work experience, volunteer, languages, courses and so on... Nowhere is said they look for academic excellence...

i have been selected as well (in the pre-selection!). I am still waiting for the final decision. I cant wait!! ..and I am afraid that any Unit hasnt contacted me yet have you received any calls from EC?

The way I understood it, by mid/end November, we're receiving our eligibility results only. There shouldn't be too many surprises there, 2000 candidates were preselected, and provided they sent the right documentation, almost all of them will be included in the Blue Book.

Only then will candidates start receiving phone calls from DGs / start lobbying DGs, for those for whom that applies...

Did I get that wrong? Has anyone received their eligibility results yet?

And I don't think they've mentioned when the selection results would be known yet, have they?

@Lea92 that's how I understood the process as well! I haven't received any eligibility results yet, what about the others?

Does anybody know if the candidate number is the same as the candidate number on the Blue Book? Or are they different?

I am still waiting for the eligibility check results as well. I am thrilled about it!
I confirm that the process works exactly as Lea described it.

Apparently for this March 2019 session there was a drop in the applications. More or less 2-3 thousands less than the previous one. I wanna believe there will be more chances for everyone to get in.

Any o you applied for DG Comp in particular?

Really? How odd! How do you figure?

Actually for the October 2018 Session almost 15000 people applied whereas for our session only 8600.

Don't know whether people who previously passed the eligibility check but didn't find a spot eventually, they will still be "competing" in our round of selections

@NCOMP I think that people who were finally not accepted in previous sessions have to start a complete new application for the next session in case they are still interested. But it´s only my guessing!

I applied for a translation traineeship. I'm not planning to lobby, I read on here it didn't apply to us, which makes sense, as there's only one unit each of us could work in, and those guys already know we're interested!

Anyway, no news here either. Does anyone have a timeline of how things went last year?
