EC Traineeship March 2018

I got a missed call yesterday. Didn’t show the number and I think it was from EC. Anyone knows what’s that possibly for? I think I already got booked by one unit. But will I still get calls after that?

Before results are out... let me share my sad story haha!

I applied to this traineeship while I was on vacations in Costa Rica. Why did I apply? I knew I was coming to Belgium (I'm here now) since my partner moved back to Europe from Philadelphia (That's where we used to live)

I told myself... I have 2 degrees and from Ivy League institutions, I have completed 3 international exchange programs, I am fluent in English, Spanish and French, I'm a former Fulbright scholar recipient and I have interned at the UNESCO and the U.N. in NYC... plus I have visited more than 100 cities in 20 countries and lived in 5 countries..... So maybe I have the profile..

So I applied.... and I screwed up on the motivational part.. when I wrote it I was prob having a beer next to a pool ... somehow I told myself I wouldn't get to the second phase.. After all, I'm from Mexico and the chances of a NON-EU is 1% haha! Guess what? I passed all the phases and I got only one call asking if I'm interested... and at this moment I feel that I messed up in my motivational letter... oh God! Anyway! Good luck everyone!

"The Commission services and Executive Agencies have now selected their trainees. I regret to inform you that you have not been selected."

I would like to believe that this has not changed and they inform all of the candidates.

Also, that being said, I received another offer after this message. It was due to the fact that somebody had declined their offer/changed their mind. Just to give an extra hope and a bit of anxiety  
(I declined their offer because I already had gotten a new job + it was totally not in my field)

This is no nerve breaking, haha. But you refused the offer in the end?

Yes, they do let you know. I sent them and e-mail last week and this was their reply:

"Dear Candidate,



You will indeed receive news of your application next week.

Whatever your status is, selected or not, you will be notified in your Stage online account.

The usual duration of the traineeship is 5 months but it can be shortened with a minimum of 3 months and with prior agreement of the hosting Directorate general.

Therefore not being selected for a traineeship starting on 1 March does not mean that you will not be at a later stage. However if you have not received a placement offer by mid-April at the latest, it means that you will definitely not be selected for the March 2018 session.



We hope that this clarifies the situation."

I think this is regarding the interviews. The official offers haven't been sent... yet....

Yeah, I refused it. I got the offer almost 2 months after the official "rejection". Had already swallowed the bitter pill and landed a nice job

Ah, guys. The reply will come at some point. After lunch I decided not to stress too much. It will be tomorrow, day after tomorrow...doesn't make much of a difference on the grand scale of things. Relax
