Lobbying, interviews, selection
Wed May 13, 2015 2:51 pm
Hi guys,
Following what people have done for previous sessions I thought it would be useful to have a thread where we post info on any communication we are getting from different Units/DGs/TO, namely:
- Units that are not getting trainees;
- Units that say they already selected their trainees;
- Units that call for interviews;
- Final offers;
- Any info coming from the TO;

Hi all I have just created this google doc so that everyone having this link can edit and share info getting from different DGS and its Units. Cheers!

Thanks for the doc!
"No lobby" section meaning that you know for sure that the DG dislikes lobbying?

I got this email from EAC and I think there is no room to send lobbying emails.
"Dear Preselected Candidate,
I thank you for the interest that you have shown in the Directorate-General for Education and Culture (DG EAC).
It is not necessary to send your cv again to DG EAC since all the relevant information you mentioned in your application form figures in the "Virtual Blue Book" and is available to the people responsible for the trainee selection (except all personal details).
In agreement with the Traineeships Office's policy and in order to respect equal treatment of candidates, the Directorate-General endeavours not to invite you to Brussels and prefers to carry out any interviews by telephone. Please note that those interviews are not compulsory which means that you might be contacted or not.
Final selection will be closed by the end of June 2015. At this stage, no traineeship may be guaranteed. If you are selected by the Directorate-General for Education and Culture, the Traineeships Office will inform you by e-mail and then send you a trainee placement offer by mid-July 2015.
Should your first application be unsuccessful, you can still apply for a subsequent exercise, provided you are still eligible. You must, however, make a fresh application. This should be done on-line following the guidelines on the Traineeships Office website at
http://ec.europa.eu/stages."
Regarding DG GROW, you can find this info in this facebook group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/755338501250640/?ref=bookmarks#. A member said that he got email discouraging this activity from the Secretariat-General.

thank you for these updates guys!
since I received the e-mail from TO that I was pre-selected I keep hesitating and cannot decide whether it's worth to contact any of the DGs/units or not.
I was encouraged and told by a friend of mine who is currently doing his internship that the more e-mails we send to different units the more chances we get they will send us an offer. I'm just reading different opinions about this, but I am not very sure whether if it's a good strategy.
Btw, here I'm targeting EEAS and since it is very "popular" and by organization is separated from the EC, I doubt they would prefer to be contacted individually.

the Health information and scientific commitees Unit from the DG for Health and Food Safety and the Biotechnology Unit from the DG for Health and Food Safety don't have trainees assigned for October 2015.

Hey guys,
Is any of you having any interviews at all? I am finding this silence really strange after so many days, compared to previous sessions where the forum was full of interview "reports".

looks like most DGs will be opening the Blue Book in two days from today... so no need to worry too much, I think.

@zrow: I agree, was actually thinking exactly the same. They seem to have changed a few things about the process this session but hopefully we'll be hearing from them soon!

What area of interest did you select? I am curious because I would have liked to select a DG (like you ENVIRONMENT/CLIMA) but not an area... because I think I really could compete with people who want to go there, but can understand why the general selection personnel thinks I stand not enough out of the crowd for "Policy" and does not select me because I guess most of the applicants did choose this.
Thanks!

Hi,
I wrote basic cover letter asking to have experience in policy and framework implementation. Did you approach them?

Congrats!
A lot of people in the FB Group are having interviews as well. I haven't heard anything yet, not even a response to my emails. I have the impression that if you have not been contacted yet at this stage, it is pretty much over...
