I've been told that we'll receive letters if we are successful. Anyone know what to do about a change of address?

Guess you could write the traineeship office.. I think that'll suffice.

yes, I think we will receive official job offers by post around mid-july,if we are successful...

they told me 9 july. dont know if it's the exact day or by/after 9 july, though.

I didn't try to lobby as such, I just asked whether there would be trainee positions for October 2012 in three units and I received responses about a letter.

'If you are selected, you will receive personally a letter with all the necessary information about the recruitment process'

'Should you ultimately be selected, you will receive personally a letter with all the necessary information about the recruitment process from the Traineeship Office, as from 9th July 2012.'

I got the following response: "Any formal offer will be sent by the Traineeship office, as from 7 June."

7 june is the internal deadline for the dg-s to submit the list of their selected candidates to the traineeship office, this is for sure.

I have seen some of them in the pictures and I can say that I would be a little bit scared to write directly the Director-General... ;-)

Anyway, in my opinion there is no bad way of doing the lobby. In particular case everything may actually help you. As for now I am pretty tired of waiting so long, especially if it is still possible to receive the negative answer...

What should I do? I couldn't send anything earlier as I had my first final exam yesterday ((

I do not think it is still too late to send emails. Imagine that last week the HoU received like 50 lobby emails/per day, let's say. Would he read them at all or just gets annoyed "Offf, another one!!!". And then 2 weeks later and no one tries to lobby anymore, maybe your email may catch his eyes and literally stand out . Just saying, if selection is still ongoing, just keep trying, it does not hurt

Just I don't know who to write to. The only E-Mail adress I had was the general one given to us in the E-Mail informing us that we passed the pre-selection, and that one bounces back with a delivery notification. Any advice?

Go into specific DGs and Units and email the Head of Unit. At least here you have their full name.

Why should selection be not going anymore anyways though? I only received the Email a week ago that I got into the second round, only started to panick when all of you guys were already sending out hundreds of emails

It is still ongoing Rebecca, it ends the 7th of June. Some people have just already been lucky and got contacted.

ok, yeah I also keep mentioning in my e-mail that I apologize for being relatively late because of my exams (which at least turns out to be a quite elegant way to mention my MSc degree in IR from LSE, haha; the rest of the e-mail then of course proceeds to be rather clunky *sigh*)
anyways, also had the fun experience of trying to build an e-mail adress out of Fernando J Andresen Guimaraes (I know the name is right, found the guy in Linkedn. This is turning me into a serious stalker btw) - have tried every combination (fernando.andresen, fernando.guimaraes, fernando.andresen-guimaraes, all of those also with a j. in the middle, or with just f. or just f.j., didn't work... any other ideas?) that is out there but no luck so far...
(Also, this has turned into a very special way of procrastinating as I SHOULD study for my next exam coming up...)

oh, btw thanks a lot you guys, without this forum I probably wouldn't have had a single idea what to do but I think I might have found some addresses I can send Mails to. Thanks! (and sorry for spamming this forum)

Rebecca: LSE has a specific alumni group in Brussels that can help you with lobbying, contact the careers service and they will tell you more about it.

I also already got a reply from the Middle East office of the EEAS:

"Dear Ms. Römer,
Mr. Mingarelli asked me to thank you for your e-mail and your interest in a traineeship in our services. His collaborators are presently studying applications as they arrive and are also analysing the blue book. I will forward your application to them. As soon as choices have been made and decisions have been taken (we have a 6 June deadline) the stagiaires office will not fail to inform you of the outcome (after July 15th).

hm...they have a 6th of June deadline. So what happens between than and the 15th of July? I mean so long before we now for sure if we are in or not.

has anyone heard anything from ELARG??? I lobbied some units, but only two of them responded saying they have no posts and the rest is silence

I also sent some emails to ELARG, but I did not received any reply so far...

@Raluca, may I ask which units said that have no posts available?

unit A3 doesn`t have a post, and unit A2 is not sure yet, but said to take my CV into account if they do....but, Daiana, if you say that they didn`t contact you either, maybe they haven`t contacted anyone yet....I hope so....

I was also called by a HR unit intersted in me, but he can`t just decide who to choose between me and some other person .... he said that their whole DG will decide on Thursday who to choose and he will let me know Friday... I am a little bit sad because I don`t think that I truly convinced him
