Translation Traineeship - Motivation Letter Empty Translation Traineeship - Motivation Letter

I have a question concerning the motivation letter - they asked us to write it in our mother tongue, but above it still said that we should only use English, German or French, otherwise it would be considered illegible. So, were we supposed to write in one of the EC languages or should we just forget about that for that task and write in our mother tongue?
