March 2011 EP Traineeship - Schuman

Hi everyone!

I was wondering if someone has been accepted to do a traineership at the European Parliament starting in March 2011. I've applied for the Schuman Scholarship journalism option.

I'm biting my nails...

I applied for the General track and haven't received a response either.

The FAQ document on their website mentions that one should expect the acceptance e-mail 2-3 months before the start of the internship. So they still have time until the beginning of January to send their replies.

On the confirmation mail they sent me after recieving my application they said we will have the answer by the end of december.

Does this mean that all the others who did not get an e-mail today should probably assume they got rejected.

I got rejected too.

Ah well, it was my second option anyway, hopefully I'll have better luck with the Commission.

my name is Jacopo and I've been offered a traineeship position at DG for Internal Policies, March 2011, general option. I now have to send them all the requested documents, and then they will send me the official offer by ordinary mail.
Is this the same process you have to go through? Do we have already the position, or is this just a preselection?

Yes, it's the same process for everyone..but I think they will send us the official offer by e-mail, not ordinary mail. Basically, we have the position if all the documents we're sending are correct and certify what we wrote in the application (diplomas, recommendation letter and proof of written work).

Just wondering if you have already sent all your documents, and if you received an answer from the Traineeship office yet.
Do you know if they give confirmation by email as soon as they receive our documents?

Hey Jacopo,

I didn't send the documents yet cause it costed me a bit to obtain the proof for my paper with the holidays,beaurocracy..plus the translatation, etc..but I should be able to send all the documents this week..I think we will recieve a confirmation, cause I have a friend who has been accepted at the Council and they told her when they recieved the documents...maybe it's the same system..they also sent her the contract and everything by normal post, so probably you were right and we're also gonna recieve it by post.

hey papo, no worries, i think it's rather a formality. unless you lied in the application, everything should be fine.

i was just wondering if anyone was also preselected for the ec. my ep traineeship sounds really interesting and i already sent all my docs, but if i also got an offer from my favorite dg at the commission, i wouldn't know what to do:)

Looks like I have been selected for a traineeship in DG for Internal Policies, TRAN-Comitee.

Maybe it would be good to be in contact with some co-trainees already before the start of our "mission", so I am very glad that I found this forum. At least it could be good to practise english by some chat here

So guys, what are your expectations of the traineeship? Or what was you motivation to attend?

Nop, me neither. I wanted to wait until I receive the letter to contact my supervisior. But I guess I'll have to reconsider that.

And what about a room/apartment in Brxl. Are you guys all covered? Do you know anyone who might be looking for a roommate? I'll looking around for a place, and it's driving me crazy. So please, if you have any suggestions.

I have just received the admission letter by post and I have already contacted my supervisor she is very kind and very friendly. I've been selected for Schuman Scholarship journalism option and I'm going to work in Directorate-General for Interpretation and Conferences, Communication, Interinstitutional and International Cooperation Unit in BRUSSELS.

But now I have a big problem: accomodation

Is anybody looking for a room?
Have anybody found something?

I received it yesterday - I also think it's strange to send it so late, some of us will be moving there any day now.

Nothing very important (or new) in the sent documents though - except in which (part of the) building you have to be and at what time. Especially no (insider ) info about accommodation (which I was quietly hoping for ).

Thanks a lot for the information. Now I am less nervous about the letter, but I still hope I will get it this week. Actually I don´t understand why they couldn´t send it to us only by email..

Probably because (since you don't get to sign a contract as for example with the EC) it is signed (by hand) - and together with your signed statement (sent to them) constitutes a contract.
