Junior Professionals in Delegation (JPD 2021-2023)

Hello everyone  

If, by any chance, pre-selected JPDs for this session (2021-2023) find this post, I suggest to share about the process and next steps of the competition  !

I have been preselected by my MFA and  notified 2 weeks ago for the COM position. I don't know exactly  though, how many candidates were pre-selected (between 2 and 4 according to the official EU documents on the programme). But I do know that we were 10 candidates to be interviewed for each of the 2 positions.

Regarding the next stage, it is my understanding in May, COM and EEAS panels will be reviewing and scoring of our applications, and then eventually contacting one and single selected candidate per position in June. But I am wondering, do you have any more information and details coming from your MFA or the EEAS about the process, such as will we have to take a second interview  ? Will there be a priority list and a reserved list for the final selection ? Also, when are we supposed to know if there would be an extra position offered by our MS?

Hi there!

I have also been pre-selected by my country but I was only notified about it last week Friday. I am competing for EEAS position and contact person from my country told me that, as far as they know, there will be one more interview with EEAS/COM towards the end of the month probably and the final decision should probably be made only around July. They said that it always takes them much more time than it is predicted in the timetable.
So, yes in general I was told that I should just wait and that EEAS will inform me about everything in due course.

Congrats and thanks for sharing. I have a doubt though, because after reading the posts of the past JPDs, I understood that there was no interview during the review/scoring phase of the application by COM/EEAS and it is also not mentioned anywhere in the documents of the competition...

Did your contact point told you what kind of format the interview would be ?

I thought the same but that is how my contact point told me so honestly I dont know [Only admins are allowed to see this image]
As for the interview, I was told it should be a generic interview where we would have to elaborate our motivation and similar. Honestly, I would not mind having an interview actually because I would like to give more details on the things I mentioned in the application but lets see what will happen,

So, you have been told the same thing as I have. It is just strange that EEAS would contact you if you applied for Commission. I thought the procedures are separated between those 2.
In any case, I really hope that they will contact us as soon as possible so that we know what to do further and how to prepare.

As for the start of the programme - yes, it is September/October, depending on the country you are posted to (I assume that if you would be moving to another part of the world, for instance, then the procedure would be a bit longer from the administrative point of view).

The EEAS centralises the selection procedure, I think, since I was also told that I would be contacted by the EEAS, even though I am competing for the COM.

No, nothing on my side.. It seems likely that there will not be interview and that the decision will be made solely based on our application.
2 years ago candidates were also said that there will be an interview but at the end it did not happen.

I think we can start expecting some news from next week on, probably within 2 weeks. Fingers crossed ! Keeping you posted if I hear about anything.

I also think that either this week or next one we should get some news...

Hey, apparently, it's up to the MFA to confirm which candidates have been chosen by the EEAS... And some pre-selected candidates by the MFA have already received confirmation that, afterall, they have not been chosen by the EEAS. Any news from your application?

I actually read on an old bluebook trainees group on Facebook that one girl got rejected by EEAS and she was informed by the MFA... however, I don't know which MS she comes from...

I was informed today by a contact person from EEAS that I got selected!!!
They thought that my MFA or PERM REP had already informed me about it but they hadn't

Anyway, it was rather an informal call - they wanted to check if I am still interested and they told me they will inform me in written about everything..

Wow, congratulations !! Did they aready tell you about your future host country  as well?

Yes, they did tell me that I will be posted to Serbia.

Any news yet for the COM candidates  ?

No reply from COM.. It feels a bit odd that the process is not harmonized at all.

I guess it may take some time to notify 54 to 80 people... but I hope that our MS will notify rejected candidates as well at some point...

I was also notified by the MS on the 9th that I was selected for COM and that I would be further contacted by COM. But so far, no news for COM. I know people from EEAS that have been notified. Does anyone know somebody from COM that had been notified?
